Hey! It's been a while since I've gotten a bit serious on here. I hope you've all enjoyed the recent food posts and the one about my night out with friends celebrating Essie Button's youtube milestone (that's definitely been one of my favourites so far). I hope to share much more like that in the future, as I really enjoy sharing pictures I've taken and writing about those experiences, and wonderful food.
A proper update has definitely been long overdue, and this one starts off with good news.
At my university, as part of my Culinary Degree, in the second year of the course, all students are asked to venture out and work in a restaurant for a year in the kitchen. While the whole idea seemed daunting at first, (myself and others still can't grasp why we were sent away so early on) most members of CAM embraced the opportunity to better themselves elsewhere with open arms, left their comfort zones and deserted the country, family home, or at least their postcode to garner as much knowledge as they could on food and "what it's really like to be a chef".
I looked in Bath (with success), played with the idea of Kent, Worcester and other places, before being given the opportunity to work somewhere pretty incredible in the heart of London (Zone 1 peeps), that will challenge me with stamina, speed, patience and ability. I'm not exactly sure whether I can reveal where I'm working, but this really is a great opportunity for me, and I look forward to the next 11 months I have with them - I still can't believe I got the job. I just.. I'm so grateful. Thank you, employer!! (- Haha, how awkward was that.)
Which brings me to my first point - I will be posting once a week. I work five days a week, leaving me two days to catch up with uni work (Hello 10,000-word dissertation..) and taking pictures for blog posts which I will try and find time to write.
Second point - I don't know whether you liked the REALLY LONG posts I used to do (check out my meatball pasta bake recipe and cry with me) but there will sadly be no more of those. For now. I'll be writing shorter posts that you could read while drinking a cup of tea, and maybe be able to finish both as the same time.
Also, the image quality should continue to get better. Now I'm working much more regularly and getting a pretty decent wage, I'm saving up to either buy my Dad's retired DSLR off him (it was my idea to buy it from him, he isn't being mean) or buy a new one, as I'm getting pretty serious about photography (to be honest I'm not getting too serious, that just sounded a lot better than "I wanna take some good pictures maaan")... so there should be some silky, sexy pictures appearing on here in the near future.
Lastly, I've changed the look, yet again. It's much more user friendly, much easier for posts and pictures to be shared and pinned (feel free to go wild), and again, something I've been trying to achieve for a while - it looks a damn lot more professional.
I hope you're all not too mad about the changes, even though my life has transitioned I still want to give blogging my all, even if it's not two times a week - I want to be consistent. Tell me what you think about everything in the comments, I'd love to hear your opinions..
Happy Thursday,
Christina x
