DINNER 25/04/15
Thursday, 30 April 2015
Lamb Fajitas with Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, Green Pesto, Smoked Paprika, Garlic and Basil Oil
Served with Home Fries Tossed in Burger Fat and Coconut Oil..
The wine is a Bushland Sauvignon-Semillion - a dry white wine with hints of lemon and lime flavours, which I thought would be the perfect accompaniment to a Mexican inspired dish. I know darker meats are usually paired with a darker wine, but white wine is my favourite, so I tried to find a white that would compliment the meal I was going to make best.
*Didn't end up having the wine, because I'm exhausted and it would have just ended up making it worse haha*
What did you have for dinner?

Hey All,
This is a bit of an impromptu post. But I just wanted to let you know you're now able to follow me on here! I didn't even really think about adding the widget before, I was just more concerned about posting good content for "the people out there that might me reading". I didn't actually know you could add said widget until today!
So if you frequently read the blog, you find my content interesting or you want to see more, you can follow me by clicking in the "JOIN THE FAMILY" section in the sidebar to your right. It's easy, it's convenient - but best of all it's free.
Here's the link if you still are confused as to how to:
I thank you all anyway for tuning in whenever I post, I appreciate all the views and likes on each one. And thank you for subscribing to my content via email! It really does mean the world, especially since you've taken the time out to read what I post. This blog currently has readers from the United Kingdom, the United States, Saudi Arabia, India, France and Turkey - how amazing is that. Seeing things like this makes it all worthwhile. Thank you.
It's just the beginning,
Christina x
P.S. There might be a cheeky mid-week post that might concern food and might contain some sexy, high def, food porn style photos. And said post might go up on the 30th of April at 3PM (GMT). Maybe. We'll just have to see.

THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM
DETOXING YOUR LIFE BEFORE SUMMER HITS
If you're anything like me, you love the winter months with a passion, because you can wear layers upon layers of clothing, it's socially acceptable to wear coats indoors, and you can buy hot chocolate and chai latte's on your way to uni without worrying looks from strangers. But you know, deep down, there's just something about the summer months that warms your spirits, gets you feeling good and convinces you to buy bikinis in preparation for holidays you haven't even planned yet (or in my case, can't afford #StudentLife).
Whatever your feelings about summer may be, I'm sure we can all agree it is one of the most beautiful times of the year. But it can also be a very stressful time. Summer time is unfortunately exam season for a lot of us or deadline season - for those who work. For whatever reason you may feel stressed this summer, (or any other time to be fair), I want to be sure that none of you out there have to deal with this stress alone. It won't help you out in the long run, and you won't enjoy any time off or annual leave you have while worrying about temporary things.
If you want to de-stress your life this summer, you need to detox your life. Here's how you can start..
MAKE LISTS - If you need to get things done - from written tasks, to housework, to shopping - write it all down. Not only is everything out your mind and on paper where you can see it, but once you write it down, you can forget all about it and just refer to that piece of paper (but don't forget about it completely! You need to get that stuff done!). This is a great way to de-stress because you are physically de-cluttering your mind, something that should be done frequently to ensure a good state of mental health. I suggest putting these lists or notes somewhere you can see them, i.e. pinned up on a noticeboard in your room.
SPRING CLEANING - The state of your surroundings is often a reflection of your mind. Something I'm sure you avoided over the winter months - spring cleaning is another great way to detox your life. Wherever you work from specifically, would be a good place to start said clean. I'm guilty of not cleaning my room as often as I should, but when my room is spotless, I feel a lot happier (believe it or not). I notice my mood changes and I can actually unwind after a long day at university, which is always a great thing.
GIVING UP BAD HABITS - This is something I still struggle with daily unfortunately, but I can definitely see change. Giving up a bad habit is a great way to feel better about yourself. I gave up swearing for Lent this year, and I swear it's one of the best things I've ever done (see what I did there?) - I'm just hoping I can keep it up. Swearing, although common to chefs, is NOT a good habit, despite what you may think. You don't have to give up something as juvenile as swearing, but maybe cut down, or cut out the amount of ready meals you may have and instead, get up and cook your own food! Or another good one for me would be start walking a lot more to university instead of getting taxis (I'm a fifteen-minute walk away from university, so I have no excuse).
CHANGE OR IMPROVE YOUR ENVIRONMENT - A very, very important one if visuals affect your mood. Changing the layout or style of your room can lift your mood tremendously, especially if you're into this interior design craze that's been happening for a while. Similar to "Spring Cleaning", but it had to be mentioned again.
CHANGE UP YOUR LOOK - What we usually do when the weather starts to get warmer, but it's something that's just overlooked because it's seen as wearing fewer layers. But changing your look can promote confidence, something that you need when you're stressed out. So have a haircut, buy or rediscover some new clothes, add a few new makeup items to the collection - do whatever is going to make you feel good and look good all the time.
Nutella Dipped Green and Crimson Grapes |
EXERCISE!!! - Have you ever heard that exercise is a great way to reduce stress? And you only need at least 30 minutes a day of exercise to see a difference? And that exercise improves your mental, physical and social well-being? Did you? Well okay, enough said then!
I hope you find these tips helpful and you will apply some this summer. I definitely will with all the exams I have!
Good Luck,
Christina x
P.S. To those still in education - don't worry too much about your exams. Study hard for them, but do not base your self-worth on what the outcome is. Either way, I know you're smarter, more creative and more talented than whatever grade or mark you receive in the end. And as you get older and start working, exam results matter less and less! As long as you do your best, you'll be fine!

NEW MAKEUP ITEMS - APRIL '15
Wednesday, 22 April 2015
Hey All,
This time I'm back with a new few makeup purchases made this month. Not going to bore you with a long-winded introduction, so let's get right into it!
Maybelline is definitely one of my favourite drugstore makeup brands (except for their increasingly long names for all their products haha). I have no idea why I decided to go with this shade - as it isn't the type I usually go for - but I'm glad I did. It's a mauv-y, pink-y, berry shade, that applies matte and opaque, as you can see from the swatch above (I only swiped it once!). After wearing it out one day I love it even more, the colour doesn't leak to the outside of your lips, it has a decent amount of staying power and doesn't taste weird, which is always a factor for me when trying new lip products - as I'm a lip biter haha! A good buy overall :)
Oh NARS, to say "I'm disappointed" would sadly be an understatement. I don't own anything from NARS but have wanted to for the longest time, and so, when they released this new foundation, that was supposed to be luminous (not dewy) and was supposed to last ALL DAY (16 hours), I jumped at the chance to purchase it. I have Oily/Combination skin, which means for me that I get very oily in my t-zone, and I get dry around my mouth and the outer rim of my face. Within a few hours of me applying the foundation to well moisturized, primed skin, in one of my oilier areas - between my brows - the foundation had started to split and move. The same thing happened around my mouth - a dry area - and settled into my 'laugh lines' (that I didn't even know I had! I'm eighteen!!). So needless to say, it definitely hadn't lasted all day and went past luminous and went straight to shiny (it didn't even last four hours).
On a lighter note, we're back to Maybelline with another decent product. I liked the primer version of this product, which is a lot like the Benefit Porefessional Primer, because of it's similar silicone type texture and so, makes the skin feel the same way. This product isn't a primer, but it can be applied under makeup, and is supposed to even out the texture of the skin and as the name suggests, "blur" imperfections. Well, having used it for just that on a makeup-less day, I must say I'm impressed. It isn't the best thing out there for the job, but it blurred and smoothed everything out at a standard that matches the price. Would I buy it again? No - because I hardly ever use it under makeup, and on makeup-less days, the only things I remember to put on my face are moisturizer and lip balm.
Haven't really got too much to say about this one. I love the wand, but it picks up waaay too much product, so I have to wipe off the whole brush before bringing it anywhere near my eye. However, it's definitely a volumizing, and some what lengthening mascara, with a lot going on with each stroke, which means it'll last a while - and I probably won't finish it before I have to change up my mascara. I have a lot of lashes, but they're short, so I always go for lengthening mascara's over volumizing ones. If you have fewer lashes, I'd definitely go for a product like this, I'm honestly sure you'll love it. But for me? Maybe not..
Thanks so much for reading the review! And for coming back to read my blog whenever I post something - if you do! I'd love to hear about anything you may have heard about or have been into recently? It wasn't the best month for me when it came to makeup, but hopefully I'll get lucky when purchasing products next month!
I'll be back with another post soon so stay tuned, and subscribe via email so you never miss a post! (Ever!)

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Medium/Dark 5 or New Orleans - £32.00 |
I much prefer my DRUGSTORE Lo'real True Match Foundation - it lasts all day and says put!
I'll be returning this. Sorry, NARS.
A swatch of the NARS A.D.L. Foundation in New Orleans. A bit too light and red for me. My actual shade is probably Dark 1/Trinidad'. |
Maybelline New York Baby Skin Instant Fatigue Blur in Cool Rose - £4.99 |
Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara - £7.99 |

WHERE'D YOU GO?
Tuesday, 21 April 2015
Hey Guys,
Sorry I haven't posted anything recently, I've been caught up with submitting final assignments for university and have been finalizing something really exciting that I will reveal to you all very soon..
I hope you're all well and are still interested in this blog, and receiving posts from me. I really love doing this and I'm glad you enjoy reading my content. It really does mean the world <3
I'm hoping to be back posting content regularly really soon, within the next couple of weeks and from then onwards.
You can expect a haul pretty soon, as I've been scouring the mid-season sales for some deals and have turned up really lucky, and so can't wait to show you all what I've bought. You can also expect a post on something along the lines of happiness (I don't want to ruin it for you guys yet), so stay tuned for that ;)
The winter months are definitely over (unfortunately), but it means everyone's a lot happier, out of the winter blues and ready to take on the heat. It's a really exciting time, ha ha.
I can't wait to upload what I've been talking about and much, much more. I hope you're excited as I am..
Have a bright, beautiful, blessed day,
Christina x
P.S. Keep me posted in the comments as to what you get up to, what you would like to see, and anything you would recommend! I would looooove to hear from you!!

BEAUTIFUL VS AVERAGE.
Thursday, 9 April 2015
Hey All,
I was sitting here at quarter past midnight on my laptop, getting ready to watch a few YouTube videos before I go to bed, as I have a busy-ish day tomorrow, so wanted to unwind from today.
I was about to watch a makeup tutorial or something, and the usual advert popped up on the video before it could start. And it was by Dove. I immediately thought it was one of their women empowerment videos, that I had previously convinced myself I wasn't into, and so started counting down the five seconds it takes before I can click to skip the ad.
But then I started watching.
And then I started crying. And I honestly never really cry - but this got to me.
I'll leave it up to you to watch the video, but I couldn't believe what I saw. The women genuinely believed - without a second thought - that they weren't beautiful. And what shocked me the most, is that all the women featured in the video - everyone caught on camera - thought they were just average. Average!! How sad is that? Doesn't it make you think?
A message to anyone out there that might be reading this - although I've never met you, I want to make something very clear - YOU are not average. You were not put on this earth just to take up space. You are beautiful, perfect, unique, special, and wonderful. But I'm just letting you know, it isn't something I've made up, it's a fact.
Goodnight (or Good Morning),
Christina x

THINGS I WANT RIGHT NOW - APRIL '15
Tuesday, 7 April 2015
Transitioning my wardrobe from AW to SS is always a hard time for me. Although I love the summer months, I much prefer dressing for the winter ones, because I feel you can be as versatile as you want. So when it gets to around this time of year, I like to hold on to dressing like I had been for the winter, for as long as possible.
After that long winded introduction, here is what I actually want to add to my wardrobe in the coming months..

This chain cuff is something I stumbled upon whilst looking for some new jewelry. (Because you can never have too much right?) This piece is being sold by ASOS but is originally from ALDO and is about £15. I would wear this with an LBD, and do a kind of black and gold look. I can't imagine wearing this casually, so I'd say invest in this piece if only if you're willing to wear it on occasion.
I've also been looking for a high neck cream jumper that's thick enough for me to wear without a jacket, but not too thick that it feels like a quilt, haha.
I really, really want this piece this month, but it's a toss up between getting this jumper, and getting the next item I'm going to mention, which are around the same price.
This ASOS High Neck Jumper in Chenille is eventually going to set me back about £35 (because I'm going to buy it, it's too gorgeous to pass up).
This jumper, is clean, well cut, slouchy (the dropped shoulders are my favourite part), and can be dressed up or down, so I already know it's going to be a well-used piece - and so a great addition to my wardrobe. I'd style this with some jeans, my black Timberland's, and either my gold watch or my silver one, depending on what I feel like that day.
To dress it up, I'd wear it with some black heeled boots and my cropped leather trousers OR the way it's been styled on the website because it looks gorgeous there.
This next item I'm actually planning to buy this week. It's the new NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I've only really heard good things about this product, and I'm in need of a new liquid foundation, so I'm very excited about picking it up in store,

I'm going in-store to see what shade I am, because I haven't previously owned anything by NARS, and I really don't want to make the mistake of not checking and being left with an expensive foundation that isn't my shade. This particular foundation costs £32. The most I've ever considered spending on a foundation, but I'm sure it'll be well worth it. I'll probably do a review! So stay tuned for that ;)
That's about it so far, but I'll update you guys if I have my eye on anything else.
