BLOGGER/VLOGGER OF THE MONTH

Hey Guys,

I thought as part of what I do on here I would talk about other people I think you all should check out or follow because I (and only I) think they will, in some way, change your life.

Drastic? I know. That sounded really melodramatic, but I honestly believe these people will affect you in the same way they've affected me or better. The people I talk about will nearly always be influential people of some sort, whether it's to do with beauty, lifestyle, health, religion or otherwise. And if I didn't find them, I wouldn't be where I am today.

I only hope you find it helpful.

The first person I'm going to talk about is a man called Wayne Goss. Wayne is a makeup artist who operates on Youtube, teaching people how to do makeup based on his 15+ years experience in the industry. Starting his channel in 2008, he now - as of this post - has nearly 2 million subscribers! So if that isn't any indication of how good he is, then I really don't know how to convince you.

I started wearing makeup at 16 and was very awkward with it because I didn't know what I was doing, and no one would teach me (by no one, I mean my Mum, who doesn't even wear makeup! Still! To this day!!!). On the fast approach to Prom, I was 'Googling' makeup looks I could do with my limited supplies (Pressed Powder Foundation that was a bit too dark for me, Pencil Eyeliner that came with a magazine that had NO BRAND (Lord Have Mercy), and Vaseline - if that even counts).

Close to giving up I came across a YouTube video by Wayne that changed my makeup game forever. This video was a contouring video inspired by Kim Kardashian - that just so happens to be his most watched video to date. I'll leave you all to go watch, but I'll tell you I looked good at Prom that year (well at least I hope I did, the night's still a blur).
I didn't 'contour and highlight it up' like Kim K, but I spent the day looking through his other easy-to-follow videos and got the general idea of how to do basic makeup, went out and bought the things I needed and practiced at least one a week up until Prom.

It wasn't the best makeup ever, but I received compliments from people that usually wouldn't give me a second look. Still to this day I'm learning - with the help of Wayne and others - and my makeup bag now consists of much more than off colour powder and dried out black eyeliner.

If there were any problems I had with Wayne, I'd have to think really hard. Really hard. But for the purpose of this post I have, and the only criticism I have is that he hasn't demonstrated makeup application on a woman of colour. This isn't because Wayne's a mean person, or he doesn't know how to - it's simply because he hasn't found a model yet! Which I firmly believe is the case, because not everyone wants to appear on a very public platform - which is fair enough.

Anyway, if you're looking for a quick tutorial, a review of a product, or just something to watch because it's 2AM and you can't sleep - check out gossmakeupartist on YouTube. You won't be disappointed ;)

Wayne has released some makeup brushes, which I am yet to try, but I'm sure they're amazing! Check them out here

Speak to you all soon,

Christina x
